Waihopai Spy Base Penetrated

“The morning, 30 April 2008, we entered the Waihopai Spy Base near Blenheim.

Our group, including a Dominican Priest, temporarily closed the base by padlocking the gates and proceeded to deflate one of the large domes covering two satellite dishes.

At 6am we cut through three security fences surrounding the domes - these are armed with razor wire, infrared motion sensors and a high voltage electrified fence. Once inside we used sickles to cut one of the two 30-metre white domes, built a shrine and knelt in prayer to remember the people killed by United States military activity.

We have financed our disarmament through personal savings, additional part-time employment and a small interest-free loan from one of our supporters."

Hur jag blev utvisad från USA - igen

Utvisas för att 24 år tidigare utfört en plogbillsaktion i USA Idag tisdag 5 februari 2008 utvisades Per Herngren från New York, JF Kennedy flygplatsen. Per Herngren greps igår kväll 4 februari när han landade med flyg från Paris på väg till Guatemala. Han förhördes en timme, hölls fängslad fem timmar för att sedan utvisas. Skälet till utvisningen var att han påsksöndagen 1984 symboliskt med hammare avrustade delar till Pershing II kärnvapenraket tillsammans med sju personer i Pershing Plowshares.

Per Herngren har varit i USA 2002, då han bland annat deltog i begravningen av Phil Berrigan, katolsk präst som grundade plogbillsrörelsen. Immigrationspolisen undrade hur han lyckades ta sig in då. De kom fram till att anledningen att han inte utvisades 2002 var att de då inte hade ett lika effektivt datorsystem som idag.

Mikael från en tidigare plogbillsstödgrupp lyckades tidigt i morse intervjua Per Herngren om nattens utvisning:

Varför utvisade de dig till Guatemala och inte till Sverige?
- En polis ville att jag skulle utvisas till Sverige. Men eftersom jag hade biljett till Guatemala redan så föreslog jag att det borde bli enklare för dem att istället eskortera mig till det planet.

Du blev ju utvisad 1985 för din plogbillsaktion. Hur kändes det att hållas i förvar hos immigrationspolisen igen?
- Det kändes lite som att ha hamnat på en teater. New York polisen har exakt den jargongen som man hör på polisserier från New York. När de såg att jag satt och skrattade åt det surrealistiska i situationen spelade de med och lade in citat från polisfilmer i dialogen med varandra. Jag hade flera fina samtal med poliserna. Min förhörsledare blev intresserad av vår tidigare plogbillsaktion och började diskutera ickevåld och världssituationen med mig. Det visade sig att vi på flera punkter faktiskt höll med varandra. Det som kändes obehagligt var att det blev så tydligt att immigrationssystemet i USA är rasistiskt. Jag var den ende vite bland ett trettiotal gripna. De flesta som hålls är fattiga indianer och mestiser som mellanlandar på väg någon annanstans. De har inte gjort något brott men hålls rutinmässigt i förvar innan de förs till nästa flyg. De rika däremot får istället gå fritt på flygplatsen och handla taxfree innan de kliver på sitt flyg.

Vad gör du i Guatemala?
- Jag ska korrekturläsa en äventyrsbok jag skrivit och behövde lite inspiration och idéer. Jag tackade faktiskt Immigrationspoliserna för att de gav mig ovärderliga uppslag för min bok. Då skrattade de men tyckte ändå att jag i framtiden borde åka via Mexiko istället för USA.

Teaterpjäs om plogbillen Carl Kabat

Det har gjorts en teaterpjäs om plogbillen Carl Kabat som suttit femton år i fängelse för olika plogbillsaktioner. Här kan man titta på en video om pjäsen och läsa om Carl Kabat. Han är en katolsk präst som klär ut sig till clown när han med hammare eller slägga avrustar vapen. De flesta plogbillsaktionerna har han utfört i USA men han deltog i den första europeiska plogbillsaktionen 1983 i Tyskland.

Här är ett intressant ickevåldslöfte som Susan Crane som bor i Jona House tog för ett par år sedan. Kanske kan vi diskutera och vidareutveckla liknande löften i plogbillsrörelsen i Sverige.

Plogbillsaktion: Clown avrustade vapen silo

En präst och två krigsveteraner hamrade 20 juni en kärnvapensilo obrukbar, vilket kallas för plogbillsaktion eller avrustning. Prästen Carl Kabat, 72 år, har avtjänat ungefär 16 år i fängelse för olika plogbillsaktioner i USA. Han deltog i första plogbillsaktionen i USA 1980 och även i den första i Europa 1983.
